The Mackellar Series

The Drought Flood Cycle (DFC) has a major impact upon economic growth in NSW.

The Mackellar Series are a collection of white papers produced by Telopea Group that are orientated around the DFC. They are an integrated strategy to help NSW better respond to the impact that drought and flood has upon the state’s economy and adapt to climate change.

The subjects contained in the white papers are listed below the three parts introduced below:

Part 1 of the series is focused on the flood-dominated phase:

• The Drought Flood Cycle
• Flood & Climate Change
• Vast Voids: Sydney’s New Water Reservoirs
• Greater Western Sydney Flood Protection Scheme

Part 2 of the series is focused on the drought-dominated phase:

• Drought & Climate Change
• Supplement Water
• Reviving NSW’s Inland Rivers

Part 3 focuses on opportunities in a world challenged by climate change and political upheaval.

• The Great New South Renewable Energy Hub
• Housing the Next Generation
• Connecting Sydney Quickly
• New Trade opportunities in an upended World Order
• Green Ships
• Telopea (www.telopea.org) a geospatial algorithm and planning app

Given that the Mackellar Series is an integrated strategy there is a degree of overlap between the programmes which reflects the mutually beneficial dependencies between the parts.

There is a considerable amount of material along with new innovative ideas that are presented in this strategy that aligns to a wider vision that Telopea Group are developing for NSW.

Telopea Group do not intend to release the papers in a sequential order as listed above, rather they will be released in accordance with the prevailing challenges faced by the state.
