Connecting Sydney Quickly® is a multi-modal transport design that will deliver better transport outcomes and greater value for money for the people of NSW.
The detailed design better utilises existing transport corridors and infrastructure to quickly increase the productivity of Sydney's transport network.
Delivery of Connecting Sydney Quickly® will:
• relieve overcrowding on Sydney’s rail network,
• reduce congestion on Sydney's roads, and
• improve Sydney's public transport services.
The Connecting Sydney Quickly® design resolves the conflict between investing in motorways and in public transport.
Connecting Sydney Quickly® is an integrated transport design that will deliver better value for NSW.
Design Principles
Important principles guided the Connecting Sydney® design:
• There would be no compulsory residential acquisitions,
• The design would integrate multiple modes of transport,
• Design innovation would increase and enhance city liveability,
• The design would not rely on tolls to fund motorway delivery, and
• The design would prioritise value for money for the people of New South Wales.
Proven logistics principles were applied to increase the productivity and efficiency of the existing and future transport network.
Connecting Sydney Quickly - the strategy
Connecting Sydney Quickly® is an integrated, multi-modal transport design for Sydney.
Connecting Sydney Quickly® comprises strategic infrastructure programs that will:
• alleviate road traffic and public transport congestion,
• improve public transport transit and interchange times,
• provide additional public transport capacity,
• increase service frequency and reliability,
• grow public transport patronage,
• enable efficient and effective transport service delivery, and
• improve quality of life for the people of NSW.
Connecting Sydney Quickly® seeks to deliver a truly integrated transport network for the people of NSW, incorporating heavy rail, light rail, bus expressways, freight ways, motorways, and new infrastructure.
The design covers Sydney CBD, Sydney metropolitan areas and connects NSW regional centres.
